Bulundi (2000)

The Thakur is the respected head of his village, a man whose judgements are accepted without question and who lives by the values taught to him by his father, the revered Dada Thakur. His younger brothers and family revere him in turn, but a scheming rival is determined to destroy the Thakur's household from within, and a crime threatens to tear apart the bonds that hold it together. Anil Kapoor plays a double role as father and son, with Rajinikanth in a powerful extended guest appearance as Dada Thakur, Raveena Tandon and Rekha. Directed by T. Rama Rao, Bulandi is the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Pedarayudu, itself remade from the Tamil Nattamai, and, like the Telugu version, uses Rajinikanth in the patriarch's flashback role.
