Bakula is a lively young woman in a Maharashtra village, and her marriage to Namdev Ghotale and the men who circle around her become the source of a string of comic complications. Bharat Jadhav and Siddharth Jadhav, the leading comic pair of Marathi cinema at the time, are at the centre of the mix-ups and rivalries that follow, while Sonali Kulkarni plays Bakula with warmth and spirit. Bakula Namdev Ghotale was directed by Kedar Shinde, who had worked with Bharat Jadhav on hit comedies such as Jatra and Khabardar, and it offers broad rural comedy, folk-flavoured songs and a good-natured ending to its tangles.
