Yaadon Ki Zanjeer (1984)

Yaadon Ki Zanjeer ("the chain of memories") is a 1984 Hindi action drama directed by Shibu Mitra, a prolific maker of action films in the 1980s. It pairs two senior stars, Sunil Dutt and Shashi Kapoor, with Shabana Azmi, here in one of her mainstream commercial roles alongside her celebrated work in parallel cinema. As the title suggests, the story hinges on the past: relationships, wrongs and separations that bind the characters until they are finally confronted. The film has the songs, family melodrama and set-piece fights typical of its time. Few dependable details of its making survive, so this page stays with the essentials.
