Hari, a hard-working elder brother, raises his two younger brothers after their parents die, but the family is torn apart when one of them goes astray and a misunderstanding drives Govind, the youngest, out of the house. Govind makes his own way in Bombay as a taxi driver, poor but fiercely self-respecting (the meaning of the title), and falls in love along the way. When trouble later engulfs his family, Govind has to choose between his wounded pride and the brothers he still loves. Khuddar is a classic Amitabh Bachchan family drama of the early 1980s, with Sanjeev Kumar as the elder brother. Rajesh Roshan's music was popular, especially the playful "Angrezi mein kehte hain ki I love you".
