Annadata (1972)

Annadata ("the provider") is a 1972 Hindi social drama directed by Asit Sen, a filmmaker known for sensitive middle-class stories such as Mamta and Safar. It stars Jaya Bhaduri, then one of the freshest faces in Hindi cinema after Guddi, with Anil Dhawan and the veteran character actor Om Prakash in a central role. The film is a quiet story about family, kindness and human values rather than melodrama, and Salil Chowdhury's music, including the Kishore Kumar song Guzar Jaaye Din Din Din, remains well loved.
