Pedarayudu is the revered head of his village, a man who settles disputes and dispenses justice as his father, Papa Rayudu, did before him. He has raised his younger brother Raja as a son, but when Raja is accused of wronging a young woman, and Pedarayudu's own enemies are scheming in the background, the elder brother must choose between family and the justice his family has always stood for. Mohan Babu plays both brothers in this Telugu remake of the Tamil hit Nattamai (1994). Its biggest talking point is a powerful special appearance by Rajinikanth as the father, a figure of absolute authority. The film was one of the biggest Telugu hits of 1995.
