Years after the village tyrant Sher Singh drove his honest father to disgrace and his family into poverty, Ravi comes back to his village. He takes on the landlord and his scheming brother-in-law, wins the villagers' trust and clashes with Sher Singh's haughty daughter Rekha, a rivalry that turns into romance. Sajid Khan's film is a deliberately retro remake of the 1983 Jeetendra-Sridevi hit Himmatwala, itself a remake of a Telugu film, staged as an homage to 1980s masala, complete with a fight with a tiger. It recreated the original's famous songs Naino Mein Sapna and Taki O Taki, and marked Tamannaah's debut as a Hindi lead. It was a critical and commercial disappointment.
