Nirnayam (1991)

Vamsi is a cheerful young police officer assigned, with his colleague, to watch a house where a fugitive linked to a big case is expected to turn up. The fugitive's daughter Geetha lives there, and the two officers take a room nearby, posing as ordinary young men. Vamsi's playful attempts to get close to Geetha turn into real love, but the case he is working on, and the powerful men behind it, put both of them in danger. Nirnayam is Priyadarshan's Telugu remake of his own Malayalam film Vandanam, bringing his blend of comedy, romance and thriller to Nagarjuna and Amala, then one of Telugu cinema's favourite screen pairs. Ilaiyaraaja's songs, especially Hello Guru Prema Kosame, remain popular.
