Velur Mavattam (2011)

Velur Mavattam ("Vellore district") is a 2011 Tamil police action drama directed by R. N. R. Manohar. Nandha plays an upright officer who refuses to bow to local strongmen and corrupt politicians, and who becomes a champion of the ordinary people they exploit, as the Hindi title, Garibon Ka Saccha Saathi ("true friend of the poor"), suggests. Poorna plays the female lead and Santhanam supplies the comedy. It is a straightforward cop-versus-goons entertainer with fights, songs and a strong-willed hero at its centre.
