Chanti is a simple, good-hearted young man raised by his widowed mother in a village, where his singing makes him loved by everyone. A wealthy landlord family with three proud, overprotective brothers takes him on to watch over their only sister, Nandini, who has grown up almost a prisoner of their affection. Thrown together, the innocent servant and the restless girl fall in love, never imagining how the brothers will react. Chanti is the Telugu remake of the Tamil blockbuster Chinna Thambi (1991), and became one of Venkatesh's biggest hits; he repeated the role in the Hindi remake Anari (1993). Ilaiyaraaja's songs, including Ennenno Andaalu, are a major part of its lasting popularity.
