Two movie-obsessed friends who run a small video store have spent years watching disaster films, and when deadly bursts of energy start striking the Earth from space, they realise their trivia might be useful. Joining forces with a scientist and a handful of survivors, they race across a city in chaos to find out what is causing the destruction and how to stop it. End of the World is a 2013 American made-for-television disaster film directed by Steven R. Monroe and starring Greg Grunberg, familiar from Heroes, with Brooke Nevin. It is a light-hearted, effects-driven B-movie that pokes fun at its own genre.
