Chacha Chowdhury (1953)

Chacha Chowdhury is a 1953 Hindi film featuring Raj Paranjpe, an actor and director best known in Marathi cinema, with Shashikala and Durga Khote. It has nothing to do with the later comic-book character of the same name; it is a social comedy-drama of its time. Shashikala was then in the early stage of a long career, and Durga Khote was already one of the grande dames of Indian cinema. It is a rare black-and-white film for viewers interested in the Hindi cinema of the early 1950s.
