Hari loves a good fight, so much that his parents send him to college in Tiruppuram, a village on the Andhra-Tamil Nadu border where the two communities are divided by an actual line and an old feud. There he falls in love with Karthika, who is from the Tamil side, and the only way to be together is to get the two halves of the village to agree to something for the first time in decades. Chalo is a light romantic comedy and the debut of director Venky Kudumula, who later made Bheeshma. It was also Rashmika Mandanna's first Telugu film, and its success, along with Geetha Govindam later that year, made her a star in Telugu cinema.
