Sreehari left his village years ago after a tragedy, and has drifted through the world since. He comes back to the old ancestral house for the temple festival, and finds the people he once knew, his friends, his rivals and Indulekha, the woman he loved and lost, still carrying the past. As the festival unfolds over a few days, old wounds open and Sreehari faces the reasons he left. Ranjith, who wrote some of Mohanlal's biggest mass hits, made this a reflective, nostalgic drama soaked in the atmosphere of village Kerala, its rituals and its music. Vidyasagar's songs are a highlight. The film was not a big success on release but has gained admirers for its melancholy mood.
