Chennaiyil Oru Naal (2013)

On the same morning, a young television journalist is fatally injured in a road accident in Chennai, and a film star's daughter in Vellore needs a heart transplant to survive. When the parents agree to donate their son's heart, the problem is getting it there in time: helicopters are grounded, and the only option is a dash by road through traffic. Police commissioner Sundarapandian takes charge, and Sathyamoorthy, a constable trying to redeem a bribery suspension, offers to drive. Several other lives intersect with the journey. The film is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit Traffic by Bobby and Sanjay, inspired by a real 2008 heart transport in Chennai, and helped popularise organ donation in Tamil Nadu.
