The children of a Mumbai housing society, a gang of cricket-mad kids with nicknames for everyone, are wary when Fatka, a boy who cleans cars, and his dog Bhidu arrive in the compound. They become friends, and when a local politician decides to get stray dogs removed and Bhidu is threatened, the kids take on the adult world with petitions, protests and the media. Co-directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Vikas Bahl, the film treats its child heroes with real affection and humour and was produced by Salman Khan. It won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film, along with awards for its screenplay and its child actors. Irrfan Khan appears in a supporting role.
