Chitram Bhalare Vichitram (1991)

A group of young bachelor friends in the city need a place to live, but landlords will only rent to families. Their solution is simple and terrible: one of them, played by Naresh, puts on a sari and poses as the wife of another. The arrangement holds, more or less, until the neighbours take an interest in the "lady", a lecherous older man starts paying attention, and the friends' real romances begin to get tangled up in the deception. Chitram Bhalare Vichitram is a fondly remembered Telugu farce of the early 1990s, and Naresh, who was a leading comedy hero of the period, is the centre of the fun in his cross-dressing role, with strong support from Subhalekha Sudhakar and Brahmanandam. It became one of the bigger comedy hits of its year.
