Choo Mantar (1956)

Choo Mantar ("abracadabra") is a 1956 Hindi comedy directed by M. Sadiq, with Johnny Walker, then at the peak of his fame as Hindi cinema's best-loved comedian, in a rare leading role, opposite Shyama and Anita Guha. The film offers the playful mix of romance, misunderstandings and comic set pieces built around Johnny Walker's rubber-faced timing that audiences of the time adored. O. P. Nayyar, whose rhythmic, Western-flavoured tunes defined the decade's lighter films, composed the music, and the songs are the main reason the film is still remembered.
