Citizen (2001)

A series of high-ranking officials, a collector, a judge and a police officer among them, are abducted by a master of disguise who seems to appear in a different form each time. A determined CBI officer sets out to catch him, and as the investigation proceeds she uncovers the story of Athipatti, a coastal village that disappeared from official records after a tragedy that the people in power chose to cover up. The film is a vigilante drama in the line of Indian and Gentleman, built on anger at official corruption. Ajith Kumar appears in several get-ups, including an old man, which was a major selling point, and the film helped turn him into a mass hero. It was the debut of director Saravana Subbiah, and Deva's songs were popular.
