Jayakrishna is a poor milkman's son studying engineering in Machilipatnam in the late 1990s, and he has grown up being mocked for his dark skin. He quietly adores Deepthi, the most admired girl on campus, never imagining she might feel the same, until a small act of kindness brings them together. Their romance is innocent and funny, but Deepthi's brother Ramaraju is a feared police officer who believes his sister deserves far better, and he sets out to crush the relationship. Colour Photo is a small film that became a big talking point for its honest look at colour prejudice and class, and it won the National Film Award for Best Telugu Feature Film. Comedian Suhas plays his first lead role, while comic actor Sunil is cast against type as a menacing villain. The song Tharagathi Gadhi became a hit.
