Ravi is a shy schoolboy in 1999 when an accident leaves him in a coma. He wakes up in 2016, a grown man with the mind of a teenager, to a world that has changed without him: phones, apps, prices, relationships and even the way people talk. With his loyal friend Mani, played by Yogi Babu, he tries to find his feet, while a family heirloom that matters to his future becomes the centre of a comic caper. The film gets much of its fun from the contrast between the 1990s and the smartphone age, and ends up making gentle points about how people have stopped talking to each other. Comali was the first film of Pradeep Ranganathan, who later directed and starred in Love Today, and it became a solid hit for Jayam Ravi. Music is by Hiphop Tamizha.
