Description

Coolie is a 1995 Tamil action drama directed by P. Vasu, the maker of Chinna Thambi and later Chandramukhi, with R. Sarathkumar in the title role and Meena as the heroine. Sarathkumar was then rising as one of Tamil cinema's leading action heroes, and the title, the everyday word for a porter or labourer, points to the working-class hero roles that were central to his popularity. P. Vasu's films typically combine sentiment, songs and action, and this one was made for Sarathkumar's mass audience.
