Chandralekha (1998)

Chandralekha is the Telugu remake of Priyadarshan's 1997 Malayalam comedy of the same name, which was itself inspired by the Hollywood film While You Were Sleeping. Nagarjuna plays a good-natured young man who, through a series of accidents, finds himself taken by a wealthy family for the husband of their daughter Chandralekha, who lies unconscious in hospital after a car crash. He cannot bring himself to tell them the truth, and as he grows close to the household, and to a young woman in it, the misunderstanding grows into a tangle of comedy and emotion. Directed by Krishna Vamsi, the film was the Telugu debut of Isha Koppikar, with Ramya Krishna in the other female lead, and Sandeep Chowta's songs were well liked.
