George drives a cab for a ride-hailing app, and Riya is a young television journalist with a taste for exposing the powerful. On the night of her birthday the two set out on a long drive through the city, but a sudden accident on a lonely road leaves them with something they cannot report and cannot hide. Before the night is over, they are hunted by a short-tempered police officer and by people with a great deal to lose, and must work out whom to trust. Most of the story plays out in a single night. Night Drive was a change of pace for Vysakh, known for star-driven mass entertainers like Pulimurugan, here working on a tight, small-scale thriller, with Indrajith enjoying himself as the volatile cop.
