Bal Brahmachari (1996)

Bal Brahmachari ("lifelong celibate") was the launch vehicle for Puru Raaj Kumar, son of the legendary actor Raaj Kumar, and was directed by Prakash Mehra, the filmmaker behind Zanjeer, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Laawaris. Karisma Kapoor, already a busy star, plays the heroine and Deepak Tijori has a major role. The film was delayed and was released in 1996 to little impact, which is why it is now remembered mostly as a footnote: a debut that came late and the last stretch of Prakash Mehra's directing career. It remains of interest for fans of Karisma's 1990s films and anyone curious about Puru Raaj Kumar's start.
