Tamassu (2010)

Shiva Rajkumar plays a dedicated police officer in Bangalore whose city is gripped by communal tension. As rumours, hatred and political manipulation push neighbours against one another, he tries to hold the line, and his own life and loyalties are dragged into the conflict. Tamassu ("darkness") was directed by Agni Shridhar, the writer and journalist whose memoir about the Bangalore underworld inspired Aa Dinagalu. Padmapriya plays the female lead, and the film features Yash in a supporting role a few years before KGF made him a pan-Indian star, which is why it often turns up in Hindi under his name.
