Khwahish (2003)

Khwahish ("desire") is a 2003 Hindi romantic drama directed by Govind Menon, with Himanshu Malik and Mallika Sherawat in the leads. The story follows a young couple whose romance faces disapproval and hardship, and the depth of their commitment when life tests them. The film drew a great deal of attention on release for its frank romantic scenes, unusual for Hindi cinema of the time, and launched Mallika Sherawat's bold screen image. Of interest as a marker of how mainstream Hindi romance was changing in the early 2000s.
