Thenmozhi, a forthright young woman in a village, marries Ulaganathan, a patriotic young man who seems to stand for honesty and service. When he enters politics, success slowly corrupts him: he learns to lie, to divide people along caste and religious lines and to use violence, and Thenmozhi must decide where her loyalty lies, with her husband or with her conscience. Achamillai Achamillai ("no fear, no fear", from a line by the poet Subramania Bharati) is one of K. Balachander's sharpest political satires and won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. Saritha's fierce performance as Thenmozhi is its heart. This page is for the Tamil film.
