Hari, a DJ in Visakhapatnam, has had his heart broken by every girl he has proposed to since childhood. When he meets Sailaja again, a girl he knew as a boy, he is sure he has found the right one, and the two grow close. But when he proposes, she says she loves him only as a friend, and Hari slowly realises that something in her family, and particularly in her relationship with her quiet, troubled father, is holding her back. Nenu Sailaja ("I am Sailaja") is a gentle romantic drama with a strong father-daughter thread, and was a welcome hit for Ram after a run of failures. It was Keerthy Suresh's first Telugu film as heroine, and Devi Sri Prasad's songs, notably "Em Cheppanu", were popular.
