Ramarao is an upright revenue official who, after clashing with powerful people, ends up as Mandal Revenue Officer in his home area near Chittoor. There he meets Malini, his former love, whose husband has gone missing, and soon finds that he is one of many men from the region who have vanished. Using the powers of his office as much as his fists, Ramarao digs into the disappearances and uncovers a ring linked to the smuggling of red sandalwood from the forests. Set in 1995, the film is a crime-investigation thriller that gave Ravi Teja an unusual bureaucrat hero. It was the comeback film of actor Venu Thottempudi after a long gap, and Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan's Telugu debut.
