A family and their friends come together to bury the head of the household, and everyone is trying to behave. It does not last: a stranger turns up with a secret about the dead man, one guest has swallowed the wrong pills, sons quarrel, relationships wobble, and the more the mourners try to keep things respectable the more absurd the day becomes. Daddy Cool is a Hindi version of the British comedy Death at a Funeral (2007), relocated to an Indian family, with an ensemble cast led by Suniel Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani and Javed Jaffrey and comic support from Rajpal Yadav. It works as a farce built on timing and escalating embarrassment rather than on action or romance.
