Cleetus is a rough, short-tempered man with a criminal past whom most people avoid. When a theatre director looking to stage a passion play needs someone to play Jesus Christ, he settles on Cleetus, much to everyone's surprise. As rehearsals go on, the part forces Cleetus to confront his own life, his guilt and the people he has hurt, and the village begins to see him differently, while not everyone wants him to succeed. Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus ("God's own Cleetus") is a gentle, faith-tinged drama with comic touches, led by Mammootty with Honey Rose, Siddique and Suraj Venjaramoodu. It was the second film directed by G. Marthandan after Daivanamathil.
