Dangal (1977)

Dangal is a 1977 Bhojpuri film starring Sujit Kumar, the actor most associated with the early Bhojpuri screen, opposite Prema Narayan. It belongs to the wave of rural family dramas that defined the language's cinema in the 1960s and 70s, full of village rivalries, honour, love and folk-flavoured songs. It holds two places in film history: it is often described as the first Bhojpuri film shot in colour, and it marked the debut of the composer duo Nadeem–Shravan, more than a decade before Aashiqui made them the biggest names in Hindi film music. Its songs remain the main reason the film is remembered.
