Darbaan (2020)

Raicharan has served the same family since he was young, and his whole world is the little boy of the house, Anukul, whom he looks after with more love than duty. When the family's fortunes change and Raicharan is forced to leave, a tragedy in his past and the choices he makes to atone for it follow him into old age, until the grown-up Anukul re-enters his life. The film is adapted from Rabindranath Tagore's short story Khokababur Pratyabartan (The Return of Khokababu), moved to a modern setting of a mining family and a bungalow. Sharib Hashmi carries the film with a quiet, ageing performance as the servant, with Sharad Kelkar as the boy he raised.
