Description

In the 12th century, a Vaishnavite devotee resists a Chola king's persecution, and his story echoes eight hundred years later. Govind, an Indian scientist at a laboratory in the United States, discovers that a deadly engineered virus is about to be sold, and flees with the vial to India, pursued by a ruthless former CIA operative. As he crosses Tamil Nadu with an unwilling companion, Andal, he runs into a giant man, an elderly woman, a Punjabi pop singer, a Japanese martial artist, a village activist, an Indian intelligence officer and even a US president, all played by Kamal Haasan, in a chase built on chance and the butterfly effect. The heavy prosthetic make-up drew on Hollywood make-up artist Michael Westmore. Dasavathaaram was one of the most ambitious and expensive Tamil films of its time and a major box-office success.
