Dastoor (1991)

Dastoor ("custom") is a Hindi family drama from 1991 with Sharmila Tagore in a lead role, alongside Suresh Oberoi and Alok Nath, two of the most familiar character actors of the period. As the title suggests, the story turns on social custom and family obligation, and on what happens when duty and personal feeling pull in different directions. It belongs to the period when Sharmila Tagore had moved from romantic leads into mature, character-driven roles.
