The Legend of Sudsakorn (2006)

The Legend of Sudsakorn is a Thai animated adventure based on Phra Aphai Mani, the great epic poem by Sunthorn Phu, the most celebrated poet of Thailand. Its hero is Sudsakorn, the son of the exiled prince Phra Aphai Mani and a mermaid, who grows up on a hermit's island and sets out to find his father. On the way he tames a magical dragon-horse, meets sorcerers, giants and spirits, and has to learn courage and good sense as well as fighting skills. The film retells one of the best-known episodes of the epic in a bright, child-friendly style and was one of the first Thai animated feature films made for cinemas.
