Babu, nicknamed B. Tech Babu, comes from a family of Surabhi theatre artists, the travelling troupes famous for staging mythological plays, but he has no interest in the tradition and plans to move to America. When his grandfather sends him on one last tour, he arrives in the Bellary region, where illegal mining controlled by a ruthless baron is ravaging villages and killing people. Teaming up with Devika, a documentary filmmaker investigating the mines, Babu is drawn into the fight and discovers his own connection to the place. Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum is Krish's blend of social message and mass entertainment, with its title and themes drawn from the Krishna stories that the troupe performs on stage.
