Ashish Mehra is a successful, divorced investment banker in London who has not been home to India in years. When he falls for Ayesha, a spirited young woman almost half his age, his friends warn him it cannot last, but the romance turns serious. To make it official he takes Ayesha back to his family home, only to land in the middle of his daughter's marriage preparations, with his sharp, self-possessed ex-wife Manju very much in charge. What follows is a comedy of awkward introductions and old wounds, in which both women hold their ground. The film was the directorial debut of editor Akiv Ali, written and produced by Luv Ranjan, and Tabu's poised turn as Manju was widely praised. It was a commercial success and was followed by De De Pyaar De 2 in 2025.
