Maya Devi has lived for years shut away in a gloomy house in Shimla, seen by her neighbours as an eccentric. Two teenage friends, Anna and Ira, decide to bring some joy into her life by writing her love letters from an imaginary admirer. To their shock, Maya believes them completely, comes alive, and one day leaves for Delhi to find the man. The prank turns into a burden of guilt that changes the friendship between the girls, and they set out to put things right. Directed by Sunaina Bhatnagar, Dear Maya marked Manisha Koirala's return to a lead role after her recovery from cancer. It is a gentle, bittersweet drama about loneliness, friendship and growing up.
