Description

Three friends, each trying to make a name in the arts, share lodgings and dreams in the city, and their hopes of love soon get mixed up with three young women. Small deceptions and mistaken identities pile up into a gentle comedy of errors, played with the easy charm of 1950s Hindi cinema. The film is remembered above all for Madan Mohan's music, which includes some of his most admired songs, among them Manna Dey's classical-tinged "Kaun Aaya Mere Man Ke Dwaare" and Lata Mangeshkar's "Meri Veena Tum Bin Roye". It was one of the last films of director Amiya Chakravarty, who made Daag and Patita and died in 1957. A good pick for lovers of golden-era film songs.
