Dekh Tamasha Dekh (2014)

In a small town on India's western coast, a poor labourer is killed when a giant hoarding of a local politician collapses on him. His death would normally pass unnoticed, but he was born into one religion and had converted to another, and soon the question of whether his body should be buried or cremated sets religious leaders, politicians, police and the courts against each other, while his widow simply wants to grieve. Feroz Abbas Khan, the theatre director known for Tumhari Amrita and Mughal-e-Azam on stage, made this biting satire on communal politics and how it feeds on ordinary lives. Satish Kaushik leads a cast drawn largely from theatre, with Tanvi Azmi in support.
