Gyani and Paali grow up together in a small North Indian town, inseparable friends with a gift for shooting, honed on the crude country-made pistols, the 'desi kattas' of the title, that local strongmen put in young hands. A former army officer recognises their talent and offers them a path into competitive shooting. One friend takes it; the other is pulled towards the easy money and power of the local politician-gangster who first armed them. The friendship that defined their lives is tested as their paths separate. The film mixes small-town crime drama with a sports story, with Suniel Shetty as the mentor and Ashutosh Rana in a strong supporting part.
