Bharat Milap (1965)

Bharat Milap takes its story from one of the most moving episodes of the Ramayana. When Rama is sent into fourteen years of exile and King Dasharatha dies of grief, his brother Bharata refuses the throne won for him by his mother Kaikeyi and travels to the forest to beg Rama to return. The meeting of the brothers, in which Bharata finally carries Rama's sandals back to Ayodhya to rule in his name, is a celebrated symbol of brotherly love and duty, and is still re-enacted at Dussehra time in many towns. This version is credited to veteran actor Sohrab Modi and Sulochana. It is a devotional film for audiences who enjoy older mythological cinema.
