Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum (2012)

Babu grew up in a family troupe that performs stage plays about gods and epics, but he has no interest in theatre and plans to go abroad. When his grandfather, an old master of the stage, dies, he travels to Bellary to keep a promise, and there meets Devika, a documentary filmmaker investigating the region's illegal mining. What he sees of the mining mafia's brutality pulls him into the struggle, and he finds that the lessons of the mythological roles he once mocked have meaning in real life. Krish frames the story around the tradition of Surabhi-style theatre and the Dasavatara of Vishnu, and the film combines social comment with commercial action. Rana Daggubati and Nayanthara lead the cast.
