Dharala Prabhu (2020)

Prabhu is a jobless young man in Chennai, happy to drift through life. Dr Kannadhasan runs a fertility clinic with a dwindling success rate, and he becomes convinced that Prabhu is exactly the donor he needs. After much persuading, Prabhu agrees, and the arrangement helps many childless couples, but it is not something he can easily explain to the woman he falls in love with. Dharala Prabhu is the Tamil remake of the Hindi hit Vicky Donor (2012), a comedy with a social message about infertility. It was released in March 2020, days before cinemas closed for the pandemic, and is one of the final big-screen roles of comedian Vivek, who died in 2021.
