Dhh (2017)

In a small Gujarati town, three boys are known to everyone as hopeless students; the title is the Gujarati slang for a dunce. Tired of scoldings and bad report cards, they become fascinated by a magician played by Naseeruddin Shah and convince themselves that magic is the shortcut that will get them through their exams. Their schemes lead to a series of funny and touching adventures that say a good deal about how children are judged by marks alone. Director Manish Saini tells the story from the children's point of view, with natural performances from the young cast and a warm, playful turn from Shah. Dhh won the National Film Award for Best Gujarati Film and travelled to children's film festivals.
