Raj Chopra is a film producer whose every release flops; Anand is an accountant who knows exactly how money can disappear from a film's books. Together they hatch a scheme: raise a fortune from investors, make a film so bad it is certain to fail, and quietly keep the rest. They hire the worst talent they can find and push ahead with the most hopeless script, but in the film business nothing goes according to plan. Dhoondte Reh Jaoge borrows its premise from Mel Brooks's The Producers and moves it into the world of Mumbai cinema, with plenty of digs at the industry's habits. It was the first feature of Umesh Shukla, who later directed the hit OMG – Oh My God! with Paresh Rawal.
