Mohan, the pampered son of a wealthy man, is meant to be sent away to be reformed, but he arranges for someone else to take his place and his name, setting off a chain of impersonations that soon involves more than one man calling himself Mohan. Shammi Kapoor, at the height of his rebel-romantic fame, leads the fun, Mala Sinha plays the girl whose heart is at stake, and Mehmood, Om Prakash and Pran add comedy and villainy. Dil Tera Deewana was directed by B. R. Panthulu as a Hindi remake of his own Tamil comedy Sabash Meena. Shankar-Jaikishan's music, including the title song, is one of its great pleasures, and the film is a good example of the light comedies Shammi Kapoor made in his peak years.
