Viki grows up humiliated and pushed around, and comes to believe that the only way to be respected is to be dangerous. He drifts into Mumbai's underworld, first as a small-timer and then under the wing of Lakwa, an old and mysterious gangster with a philosophy of his own. As Viki climbs the ladder he picks up a nickname, a gun and powerful enemies, and the film keeps asking whether his rise is real or just a story he is telling. Dishkiyaoon, its title the sound of a gunshot in Hindi film slang, was produced by Shilpa Shetty, who also appears in a dance number, and was Harman Baweja's comeback film after a gap of several years.
